Machine Shop: Lesson 2 - Use of measuring instruments

Subjects covered in this lesson are how to use and read a ruler, vernier scales, calipers, micrometer, depth gauge, dial gauge, telescopic gauges, small hole gauges etc. Below are photos of some of the measuring instruments instruction is given on. The instruments are available, for the student completing the class, to check out and use in the shop and lab area.

Students will become familiar with measure tools and actually measure random samples of stock, bits, dowel pins, drill bits etc. as well as learn how to quickly locate center to center distances of holes.
