ME Business Minor
Requirements for the business/management minor option in Mechanical Engineering are listed below. The business/management minor allows a student to use 9 hours of business classes as technical/science electives; however, if the student fails to complete requirements for the business minor, those 9 hours will not be counted as technical/science electives.
- Take ECON 2013 as the required economics course.
- Take ECON 2023 as a lower level social science elective.
- Take MGMT 4243 as an upper level social science elective.
- Take INEG 3313 - Engineering Statistics as a technical/science elective (substitute for WCOB 1033).
- Substitute the following courses for the remaining three required technical/science electives in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum:
3000-4000 level management (MGMT) course (3 hours)
3000-4000 level management (MGMT) course (3 hours)
3000-4000 level management (MGMT) course (3 hours) - Take the following courses to complete the requirements for a minor in business:
WCOB 1120 Computer Competency Requirement (prereq. for WCOB 1023)
COMM 1313 Fundamentals of Communication (prereq. for WCOB 1023)
WCOB 1023 Business Foundations (prereq. for WCOB 2033)
WCOB 1012 Legal Environment of Business (prereq. for WCOB 2033)
WCOB 2033 Acquiring and Managing Human Capital (prereq. for MGMT 4243)
Notes:
- At least 50 percent of the courses applied toward the minor must be taken in residence.
- Each student must have a 2.00 cumulative grade-point average in the courses offered for the minor.
- If the student fails to complete requirements for the business minor, the nine (9) hours of upper level business courses listed under item 5 above will not be counted as technical/science electives in the Mechanical Engineering curriculum.
- The student must apply for the minor in the Engineering Dean's office with the appropriate form.
